The Ottawa Competitive Senior Slo Pitch League (OCSSPL) offers the highest level of slo pitch in Ottawa for men 60 years of age and older.  We play double headers every Thursday morning (10:00 am – 1:00pm) from May to September at Brewer and Carlington Parks.
We are committed to providing the best possible framework for senior men where slo pitch is played safely and at a high calibre while fostering sportsmanship, camaraderie, fun and fitness.

Message from the President

 

September 11, 2026

Congratulations to the Blue team for winning the Division A playoffs and hoisting the Shawn Argue trophy. After losing the first game to Purple 6 – 1, the Blue Team regrouped and won the next two 7 – 1 and 9 – 3.

In the Division A consolation, congratulations to the Black team who pushed past Green 7 – 5 and 13 – 8.

Also congratulations to the Red team who finished on top in the B Division after the two week round robin games.

Congratulations to all players for another great season in the OCSSPL in our 11th season.  Have a great off season and I’m looking forward to seeing everyone on the diamonds next May!

Guys, Diamond 1 at Brewer is NOT playable this morning.  Black vs Green will move to Carlington 1.  Both Carlington diamonds are fine.  Brewer 2 is okay, but will need some rake work around home plate.

Guys… we’re a little more than a month away from opening day and the captains and league exec have been busy, recruiting, registering, booking diamonds, getting parking permits, updating equipment needs, refreshing rules and playoff plans and most importantly,  selecting teams.
*A three-member committee of Ken Kroeker, Dave Tripp and Peter Atkinson, with input from Warren Fishwick, Bob Williams and I, met this week and built the teams.
*Captains had two days to initiate trades amongst themselves (with league approval), and one took place.  Captains have signed off on their teams for 2026.
*While every effort is made to balance teams, this is not a scientific undertaking. If rebalancing is required after six games, the league will do that.
*Your captain will be in touch over the next several days to introduce you to your teammates.  Allowing for the Easter Weekend,  you should hear from them by April 7.
*The season opening breakfast is Wednesday April 29, 9.30 a.m. at Hometown Sports Grill, our league sponsor for the 11th year straight.  The league covers the bulk of the cost, but a $5.00 per person charge will be collected by your captain at the breakfast.  Team shirts will be distributed then.
*Your captain will be looking for two volunteers to participate in an umpiring clinic run by Ken Kroeker Monday May 4 at 9.30 a.m. at Brewer.  Your captain will also be looking for two volunteers to take part in a defibrillator course run by Alex Davey Monday, May 4, 10.30 a.m. at Brewer.
*The season opens Thursday May 7, (weather permitting). With seven teams of 13 this year,  we will play 11 in the field.  We will use Brewer 1 and 2, and Carlington 2 as our diamonds. Your captain will provide you with a parking pass to display while at Brewer.
*With seven teams, each team will have two bye weeks throughout the season. This will help greatly when teams are short players, with a built-in spares list from the bye team.
*For both new and returning players,  please review the code of player conduct and the new rule allowing for Designated Runners for batters unable to run due to injury. Click on the Rules tab on our website  ottawaseniorslopitch.com
And remember,  captains have a lot of gameday responsibility and do NOT do diamond set up. Please get to your games early to help – home team does set up, visitors, do take down.
League schedules, standings, rules, registration and news will be posted by Dave Tripp on the website.  He will be a busy man in the next few days, so please be patient.
And a huge thanks to Warren Fishwick for his help with registration, Bob Willams  for his help with finances, Ken for ensuring I don’t screw up and his baseball brain, and Dave for his web work.

OTTAWA 60+ SLO-PITCH LEAGUE
The Ottawa 60+ Slo-Pitch League is a co-ed league with about 150 players who get together weekly  to play ball, have some fun, and to form new friendships.
High level baseball skills are not a priority to be able to participate in our League. We strive to foster an environment of fairness and safety by trying to accommodate the diverse abilities of all players. Contact ottawa60plusslo-pitch.ca

MONDAY BALL
“Monday Ball” is a co-ed 50+ slo-pitch league that plays at Brewer Park Monday mornings at 10am and 11:30am.  We play from the first Monday in May to the last Monday in September.    Contact foxball@rogers.com
